Medical Waste Disposal Grand Rapids, MI

Grand Rapids is the second largest city in Michigan, and is located on the Grand River roughly 30 miles from Lake Michigan. The city is the hometown to U.S. President Gerald Ford, who is buried at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum downtown. The downtown area also offers numerous concert venues that are enjoyed by the community. The variety of activities and events that Grand Rapids has to offer is an attraction for many residents and tourists.

The Gerald R. Ford Museum is ranked among the top 10 places to visit, and is nationally recognized by many. Some other excellent museums the community has to offer include the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum and the Grand Rapids Art Museum. America’s #1 Place to visits also hosts events with several semi-pro sports teams. The Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, And Pistons all have their semi-pro teams located here.

The residents of Grand Rapids are very fortunate to take advantage of an excellent healthcare system. Some notable facilities include: Butterworth Hospital, Mercy Health Saint Mary’s Campus, and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. These facilities are dedicated to provide the absolute best care to the residents of Kent County. Although, one problem these practices share includes the production of harmful medical waste. It is very important they handle the removal process of the medical waste carefully. This removal process is regulated and must be done correctly in order to be compliant.

MedPro Disposal specializes in the medical waste removal process for the healthcare facilities of Grand Rapids. We offer an array of services to alleviate your practice’s medical waste concerns. The services offered in the Grand Rapids contain: regulated medical waste removal service, pharmaceutical disposal, and OSHA compliance.

The medical waste disposal process is very dangerous, but MedPro Disposal makes the process fairly simple. Medical waste is broadly defined as any item that comes into contact with bodily fluids. Specifically, it is any solid waste that is generated in the diagnosis, treatment, or immunization of a human. In order to keep the patients and community safe you must dispose of this waste correctly. MedPro Disposal offers the facilities of Grand Rapids customized plans to accommodate your waste needs. There are a few pieces of information that must be obtained in order for our team to start constructing your cost-effective plan.

The information that is necessary to create your plan include how much medical waste your facility is producing, and how often the medical waste is picked up. With this information we determine what frequency would best fit your practice. We offer a variety of frequency schedules, so we are certain to find a good fit for you. Your facility would be provided red-lined cardboard boxes to accumulate the waste. On your designated pick-up date, we would remove the boxes for disposal, and provide your practice with new boxes to restart the process.

Another service that is offered to the Grand Rapid area is our unique pharmaceutical mail back program. The program is the solution to those unneeded medications that are laying around. Your facility would be provided with a 2.5 gallon OTC/Rx or controlled bucket that would collect expired and unneeded medications. The bucket comes equipped with a pre-paid UPS label for an easy disposal process. It is a great way to ensure these harmful medications are not ending up in the landfills and water systems of Grand Rapids. The program is compliant on all federal and state levels. Another concern the pharmaceutical program eliminates is the illegal diversion of these controlled substances.

It is very important to have your employees OSHA certified to ensure the safety of the practice. MedPro Disposal offers a comprehensive and user-friendly OSHA certification course. The training is done all online which is very convenient for your facility, allowing your employees to receive their proper certification when time permits. The training includes short educational videos explaining the proper disposal process of medical waste. After each training section is a multiple choice section to ensure your employees are retaining the valuable information. Upon completion of the course your employee will be awarded a certificate of completion. The certificate can be printed out for easy filing purposes, but will also remain on the online portal. We look forward to helping get your employees trained, certified, and safe.

The benefits MedPro Disposal offers includes the variety of services that are available for your facility to take advantage of. We are very flexible and are able to accommodate requests your facilities have regarding medical waste. We are able to offer your facility a substantial discount when we bundle the services together.

Grand Rapids Little-Known Facts

The Grand Rapids area was first settled by Europeans near the start of the 19th century by missionaries and fur traders. They generally lived in reasonable peace alongside the Ottawa tribespeople, with whom they traded their European metal and textile goods for fur pelts. Joseph and Madeline La Framboise established the first Indian/European trading post in West Michigan, and in present Grand Rapids, on the banks of the Grand River near what is now Ada. After the death of her husband in 1806, Madeline La Framboise carried on, expanding fur trading posts to the west and north. La Framboise, whose ancestry was a mix of French and Indian, later merged her successful operations with the American Fur Company.
