Medical Waste Disposal Peoria, IL

The city of Peoria was established in 1691 by Henri de Tonti. The town is the oldest European settlement located on the Illinois River. Caterpillar Inc, one of the 30 companies of the Down Jones Industrial Average is headquartered downtown Peoria. The heavy equipment and engine manufacture has provided over 15,000 job opportunities for the community. The “River City” includes a variety of different businesses involving: corporate, governmental, convention, and medical facilities.

There are many activities events that are provided for the residents to take advantage of every year. The community involves their festivals around the beautiful riverfront. Steamboat Days is a popular annual festival that includes carnival rides, delicious food and drinks, and great entertainment. The Taste of Peoria is also a popular event that attracts many to the riverfront. The summer festival includes many local restaurants offering their best food for the community to enjoy. Everyone is invited, stop by the riverfront to check out some great food and live entertainment.

Peoria has lot of fun activities to offer, although what the residents appreciate the most is the excellent healthcare that is provided. The healthcare facilities in the area include: OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Unity Point Health Methodist, and Proctor Hospital. These facilities are dedicated to providing the best care to the Peoria resident. Although, one problem these facilities share is their production of dangerous medical waste. Medical waste is broadly defined as any item that comes into contact with bodily fluids. Specifically, it is any solid waste that is generated in the diagnosis, treatment, or immunization of a human.

MedPro Disposal specializes in the medical waste disposal process for the healthcare facilities of Peoria. It is very important these facilities handle the removal process with extreme caution to ensure the safety of the patients and the community of Peoria. We are able to construct a customized plan in order to fit your medical needs. We require to pieces of information which include how much medical waste is being produced and how often the waste is being picked up. With those factors we are able to determine a cost-effective pick-up schedule.

The process of medical waste is dangerous, but MedPro Disposal offers a solution to this problem. Your facility would be provided with red-lined cardboard boxes which would accumulate the medical waste. On your scheduled pick-up date our drivers would remove the waste and provide your practice with additional boxes to restart the process. Here at MedPro Disposal we understand your waste accumulation may change. Therefore, we are very flexible in accommodating your requests regarding changes to your frequency and volume needs.

Another popular program that is offered to the healthcare facilities is our unique pharmaceutical mail back program. Your facility would be provided with a 2.5 gallon OTC/Rx or controlled bucket that comes equipped with a pre-paid UPS return label. The bucket would collect any expired or unwanted medications that need proper disposal. It is very important these medications don’t end up in Peoria’s landfills or water systems. The one-time purchase of the bucket is very affordable and a great solution to dispose of those medications. The program is compliant on all state and federal levels.

We offer a great OSHA compliance program in order to have your employees certified. Our online user friendly portal consists of comprehensive training, explaining the proper way to handle dangerous medical waste. Some advantages to our OSHA training include: interactive multimedia training, advanced search options, and simplified safety data sheet management. Your employee will be required to watch short educational videos. After each section will be a short multiple choice question quiz to ensure the information is being retained. Upon completion of the course your employee will be awarded a certificate. The certificate can be printed out for filing purposes but will also remain accessible on the online portal.

The benefits MedPro Disposal has to offer the healthcare facilities of Peoria are excellent. The variety of services we offer include: regulated medical waste disposal, pharmaceutical disposal, and OSHA compliance training. We are able to bundle these services to accommodate your medical needs and offer significant discounts.

Peoria Little-Known Facts

Peoria is one of the oldest settlements in Illinois, as explorers first ventured up the Illinois River from the Mississippi. The lands that eventually would become Peoria were first settled in 1680, when French explorers Ren-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle and Henri de Tonti constructed Fort Crevecoeur. This fort would later burn to the ground, and in 1813 Fort Clark, Illinois was built. When the County of Peoria was organized in 1825, Fort Clark was officially named Peoria. Peoria was named after the Peoria tribe, a member of the Illinois Confederation. The original meaning of the word is uncertain. A 21st-century proposal suggests a derivation from a Proto-Algonquian word meaning “to dream with the help of a manitou.”
