What is medical waste?

Any kind of waste that contains infectious or potentially infectious material. This waste is typically generated by physicians’ offices, hospitals, dental practices, laboratories, medical research facilities, and veterinary clinics.

Do you offer services besides medical waste disposal?

Yes! MedPro Disposal also offers OSHA/HIPAA compliance training, data and document shredding and mailback services in addition to its medical waste disposal services.

Can I adjust my services?

Yes, you can absolutely adjust your services. Simply call, and one of our Client Managers can adjust the same day.

Can I bundle services?

Absolutely. Medical waste disposal is our primary service, but we also offer OSHA/HIPAA compliance training, data and document shredding, and mailback services. Multiple services can easily be bundled together.

Is there a contract?

Our service agreement is how we are able to offer the best rate possible and allows us to optimize routes and make investments in transportation and destruction infrastructure.
Our contracts include specific service-level agreements, and you can expect to save an average of 20-30% annually on your medical waste disposal and compliance costs.

I’m currently under contract with another vendor and want to switch. What should I do?

Review the terms and conditions of your current contract. Depending on your current provider, advanced notice may be required to cancel service, and sometimes a fee may be charged. Oftentimes, MedPro Disposal can offer a solution even if you are under contract. Ask your sales rep for further details.

Can MedPro Disposal help dispose of expired medications?

How does MedPro Disposal dispose of the waste?

Any waste we collect is brought to a treatment facility. Using environmentally friendly autoclave technology, the waste is sterilized, shredded/compacted, and then transferred to a landfill. A small percentage of waste, such as pathological waste or certain hazardous materials require incineration for safe and proposal disposal. Regardless of the destruction method, all clients are provided with access to certified manifest documents showing proof of compliant destruction.

What other services does MedPro offer?

MedPro offers other services like compliance training (OSHA) and certification (HIPAA), data & document destruction, and mail-back programs.

Scheduling & Pickup

How often can pickups be scheduled?

You can choose from weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or custom pickup frequencies, based on your waste volume and compliance needs.

What if I need an extra pickup?

You can request an extra pickup anytime by contacting our support team or logging into your customer portal.

What safety measures do your drivers follow?

All our drivers are trained in OSHA and DOT regulations. They wear PPE, follow chain-of-custody procedures, and document every pickup for compliance.

How big is a box?

28 gallons is the standard size. However, it can be as small as 1.2 gallons and as big as 96 gallons. It’s dependent on the client and their needs.

Do you service our area?

We provide on-site medical waste disposal services for over 40,000 clients in 48 states of the contiguous United States. We do not currently service Alaska, Hawaii, Washington state, New Jersey, or the five boroughs of New York. However, mail-back waste solutions may be available in these markets.

How long does it take for my first pickup?

MedPro Disposal prides itself in quick and efficient pickup. The first pickup will be 7-10 business days from the initial signing. After that, it’s scheduled for however frequent you need it to be.

Who will pick up my waste?

MedPro Disposal’s corporate headquarters are located in Naperville, Illinois, but we have service in many locations nationwide.
In addition to direct hauler routes, we vet local, independent subcontractors – ensuring your facility is in the hands of a licensed, insured, and compliant medical waste disposal vendor.

When is my next pickup?

It depends on the client and how much waste is produced. Some clients need once or twice a week while others need only four times a year.

Do you collect anything outside of medical waste?

Yes! MedPro Disposal also collects pharmaceuticals, pathological, chemo waste, and other hazardous waste streams. We also provide OSHA/HIPAA compliance training and data and document shredding services.

Can MedPro Disposal provide sharps containers?

MedPro Disposal does not provide, or sell, sharps containers for clients. We found that there is such a wide discrepancy in manufacturers and the size of containers it would be impossible to offer a solution that fits all client needs, especially if factoring in the need to securely mount the container within an existing receptacle.
We advise clients to purchase sharps containers directly from a medical supply company and we are more than happy to provide a referral to one, if needed. Filled and secured sharps containers may then be placed in one of our larger biohazard waste containers.

Billing & Pricing

How is pricing determined?

Pricing is based on your location, waste volume, and pickup frequency. We offer flat-rate billing with no surprise fees.

Are there long-term contracts?

We offer flexible contract terms tailored to your facility. Monthly, quarterly, or annual options are available.

How do I receive invoices?

Invoices are sent via email and also accessible through your MedPro customer portal.

What’s your cost?

Pricing is based off geography, frequency of service and the volume of waste. MedPro Disposal on average saves its clients 20-30% annually on medical waste disposal costs.

What additional fees does MedPro Disposal charge?

MedPro Disposal does not charge environmental, regulatory, fuel, or other fees you may see from other waste haulers.
Please note that our quoted prices are based on a discount for enrollment in Auto Pay. Opting out of Auto Pay may incur a fee per invoice.

Do you have e-invoices, online payments, or autopay?

MedPro Disposal clients receive invoices and statements digitally with the option to pay invoices online. Our Auto Pay program is a great way to never worry about late fees for missed payments.

Compliance & Documentation

Does MedPro help with OSHA compliance?

Yes. Our online Compliance Portal includes OSHA training modules, safety plans, and documentation tools to help you stay audit-ready.

Do you provide waste manifests and reports?

Yes. After each pickup, you receive detailed manifests and proof of destruction, stored securely in your portal.

Can MedPro help with staff training?

Absolutely. Our OSHA compliance tools include interactive training for bloodborne pathogens, HIPAA, and more.

Why do I need OSHA/HIPAA compliance?

OSHA and HIPAA compliance are required by law for any healthcare facility to open. OSHA protects employees’ safety and HIPAA protects patients’ safety and privacy. Depending on your practice, one may be required and not the other, but both are usually required.

Am I held liable for the waste I generate?

Generators are liable for the waste they generate until MedPro Disposal or one of its trusted affiliates picks it up. Once the waste is in the truck, we own it and take responsibility for it.

Insurance Coverage & Liability

How does insurance coverage protect my facility or clinic during audits or investigations?

Insurance coverage protects your facility or clinic by shifting the financial and legal responsibility for incidents like spills or transport accidents to your waste disposal provider. This insurance coverage helps minimize your facility’s liabilities, risk of fines, and safeguards your reputation.

Who is legally responsible for regulated medical waste disposal?

The facility generating the regulated medical waste (RMW) is legally responsible for its disposal. Your facility (whether a clinic or hospital) holds primary responsibility for the proper handling, documentation, and disposal of these materials. You must keep accurate waste handling permits and transport manifests. If the paperwork is wrong or missing, liability remains with you, not your waste disposal provider.

When considering a waste disposal provider, ask about the indemnification clauses in your waste disposal contract. These clauses help shift certain liabilities for losses, damages, claims, and expenses from you to your waste disposal provider as part of your contractual agreements.

What types of insurance should a medical waste disposal provider carry?

A reliable medical waste disposal provider should carry several types of insurance. These insurance policies should provide coverage for liabilities during storage, transport, medical waste disposal, and environmental contamination, such as:

• Comprehensive General Liability (CGL): This covers bodily injury and property damage caused by pollution or waste disposal.

• Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL): Covers damages caused by pollution or waste.

• Umbrella and Excess Liability Insurance: A policy that offers additional coverage beyond your primary policies.

• Automobile Insurance: Covers liabilities to waste disposal transport vehicles.

• Product liability, personal injury, and property insurance: these are specialized policies that you can get depending on your clinic or facility’s needs and circumstances.

Does MedPro Disposal carry insurance coverage for its medical waste disposal services?

MedPro Disposal carries $33 million in insurance coverage for its medical waste disposal services. We assume full title of your waste once it leaves your facility, with $33 million in comprehensive insurance coverage for liability indemnification. This means we will protect your facility every step of the way, from waste handling to transport and disposal.

What does MedPro Disposal’s liability coverage include?

MedPro’s liability coverage includes environmental liability, regulatory compliance, transportation, and accidental spill coverage. This comprehensive protection ensures that your facility avoids costly penalties or legal exposure.

Does MedPro take full title responsibility and liability for your hazardous waste?

Unfortunately, MedPro can take full title responsibility and liability for your hazardous waste. You retain full responsibility and liability for the hazardous waste that you produce. Federal regulations refer to this as your “cradle-to-grave” responsibility. That means you are legally accountable for the hazardous waste you generated. MedPro Disposal, like all other providers, cannot assume full title and liability for it.

The good news: MedPro Disposal assumes full title and liability for other types of regulated medical waste (RMW). That includes sharps, infectious waste materials, and trace chemotherapy. RMW also includes non-hazardous, non-regulated pharmaceutical waste streams. Our comprehensive $33 million insurance coverage and liability indemnification back this guarantee.

How can healthcare facilities limit liability?

Healthcare facilities can limit their liability by:

• Making certain that the documentation that accompanies all their waste transports is complete and accurate (all manifests and permits).

• Regularly reviewing their waste disposal insurance certificates and indemnification provisions.

• Following strict internal protocols on regulated medical waste segregation, containment, labelling, and storage to comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

• Partnering only with licensed, reputable medical waste management providers.
