The city of Norfolk is a part of Madison County in the state of Nebraska. It is located in the Northeast region of Nebraska and is 112 miles northwest of Omaha, 121 miles north of Lincoln and 75 miles southwest of Sioux City, Iowa. U.S Highways 81 and 275 intersect within the city of Norfolk. Madison, Nebraska is only 15 miles away from Norfolk, and is the county seat of Madison County. As of the 2010 population census the city had a total population of 24,210, making it the ninth-largest city in Nebraska.
History of the city dates back to 1865 when three scouts were sent from Wisconsin, to find productive and inexpensive farmland that would be claimed under the Homestead Act. On May 23rd, 1866, a group of 124 settlers from the Ixonia area set out to civilize the land. They arrived at the new sit on July 15th, 1866. Within the next two years, more groups of settlers would follow to the land Norfolk lies on. They proclaimed “North Folk” to be their permanent post office address, named after the river, but suggested “Norfolk” as the simplest compounding version of “North Folk”.
Today, Norfolk is the economic center for encompassing six counties. It bases its economy activity off of manufacturing, farming, education, retailing, and wholesaling. The largest employment of residents within that list is the manufacturing industry, as it employs over 4,059 people. Some of the manufacturing companies that call Norfolk home include: Nucor, Covidien, Veyance Technologies, and Norfolk Iron and Metal.
Stated above, Covidien is one of Norfolk’s major manufactures and employees about 400 residents to produce syringes and other medical supplies. Disposing of theses medical supplies safely is often a costly expense for facilities, and is mandated by state and federal laws. MedPro Disposal offers the Norfolk region cost-effective medical waste disposal programs: medical waste disposal, pharmaceutical mailback, and OSHA compliance training.
MedPro Disposal’s medical waste program is aimed at disposing your facilities waste at a affordable cost, without having to settle for unreliable service. This program is personalized to your facility. We will develop a customized strategy for the removal of medical waste based off two parts of information about your facility. This information includes your current medical waste fluctuation and volume. We will begin our program by providing your facility with red-line cardboard boxes to accumulate the medical waste with ease. Upon your scheduled pick-up dates, MedPro Disposal will travel to your facility to pick up the old boxes and restart the process by providing you with new red-lined boxes on that same scheduled pick-up date. Here at MedPro Disposal, we understand that your volume of medical waste may change over time. We will accommodate to your medical waste needs with a simple phone call to us!
Our pharmaceutical mailback program is the best way to disposal of any unused or unwanted pharmaceuticals. This program is unique in the sense that it gives you the utmost freedom, rather than locking you down into a contract. MedPro Disposal’s 2.5 gallon OTC/Rx buckets are what will accumulate the pharmaceuticals. These buckets are only a one-time charge, and eliminates monthly bills from your facility. Buckets can be filled at your own pace and sent back for disposal at any point of time. Once the bucket has been filled, simply attach the prepaid UPS return label that comes equipped with bucket and place it in the mail for disposal. MedPro Disposal’s pharmaceutical mailback program is compliant on all state and federal regulations.
To complement our medical waste disposal programs, we offer OSHA compliance training. This program is a great way to get your employees certified to handle medical waste on OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other regulations. Training consist of short education videos, hosted via our online portal. Since this training is hosted via online, it will eliminate the need to make your employees travel to a consultant to receive the same certification. Upon completion of the course, participates will receive a certificate of completion and can be accessed online for filling purposes.
