Familiarly known as the Keystone State, the state of Pennsylvania plays an important role in American culture and economic production. Pennsylvania is the 33rd largest state and the 6th most populated, with just under 13 million residents. Cities such as Pittsburgh bring vast tourism and large businesses to the great state. Pennsylvania is also one of the original 13 founding states. A land grant to William Penn in 1681 lead to the founding of the state. They were second in line to ratifying the Constitution.
Come the 20th century, Pennsylvania and its economic status was highly reliant on steel production, logging, and other industrial industries. At this turn of the century, immigration was prevalent which brought cheap labor. Kids as well as non-English speakers filled many of these jobs. In 2013 the state ranked 6th in the United States, with a gross production of $644 billion. An interesting statistic has it that if Pennsylvania were to be independent, its economic stance and performance would rank it as the 18th largest in the world.
Whether it’s Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, the east region of Pennsylvania relies heavily on manufacturing. This is the main center for manufacturing industries to do business. Pittsburgh is also home to eight Fortune 500 companies, which drives in not only jobs but money to the state. U.S. Steel and PPG Industries are two examples of that.
How could we forget the most important information? Pennsylvania is home to quite a few major league sport teams. Whether you’re wanting to grab your Terrible Towel on a Sunday Fall afternoon, or craving a dog at Citizens Bank Park, you’re guaranteed an enjoyable experience in Philadelphia. Whether it is hockey or basketball season, you’re sure to find plenty of professional sporting events in Philly.
Sitting in the slot of 6th most populated city can mean quite a few things. With that many people in many big cities, the healthcare industry seems to always thrive. From Allentown to Pittsburgh, MedPro Disposal wants to do its part in keeping Pennsylvania’s healthcare facilities open and safe. Our main concern is to educate the citizens and healthcare professionals about safe-handling their medical waste and proper disposal.
Many people ask us on a daily basis, what entirely is classified as medical waste? Any item that comes in contact with any bodily fluids is generally considered medical waste. As you narrow down the term, it is any solid waste that is generated in the diagnosis, treatment, or immunization of a patient. Early on this was disposed of with any waste. From there, officials started to notice that this was leading to disease and virus. If something didn’t change, an outbreak was very likely to take place. At doctors’ offices today, you will see a red biohazard container lined with a red biohazard bag.
Let’s use an example to highlight a safe-handling scenario. Gloves, for example, must be put directly in the red biohazardous container immediately following their use. A near 17 million individuals were infected by improper handling and unsafe disposal. 99,000 went on to pass away. These are issues that are highly preventable. Just like anything, they involve a little education in order to know enough on the topic to prevent situations like that of the 17 million.
Here at MedPro, safety is our main concern. With safety, handling and compliance go hand-in-hand. We have a variety of services to combat your generated medical waste for you.
Our RMW service is our bread and butter. This is the main disposal of many practices. Our OSHA Compliance training is one of our highly suggested services as well. This online portal gives your facility and faculty credibility and will assure you are handling everything in a harmless manner. Each representative has their own sign in and is allowed as much time as they choose to complete each module.
Keeping your wastes separated is a definite must. Hazardous and non-hazardous material must remain segregated at all times. If the two were ever to mix together, the entire mass of waste would be deemed hazardous.
From Pharmaceutical waste and medical waste to sharps disposals, MedPro Disposal can assure its customers safe disposal as well as top notch service. With medical costs constantly on the rise, many healthcare providers are looking for ways to cut costs. MedPro is here to offer top tier service at a fraction of the cost. Customers can see annual savings anywhere from 20-40% on their current spend. Our mission is to handle this one for you, and get you back to your patients.

Storage Requirements
Any person who generates, transports, stores, processes, or disposes of infectious and chemotherapeutic waste must track the waste through the shipping process to its arrival at a disposal facility. The current regulations prescribe the use of paper manifests to ensure that the waste being shipped is processed or disposed of in the manner intended by the generator. The proposed regulations allow generators, transporters and those involved in the storage, processing and disposal of regulated medical waste to use standard business documentation, including electronic tracking systems, to demonstrate compliance with the regulations, provided that all of the required information is contained in that documentation.
