Serving the Hollywood area is Memorial Regional and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, both superior healthcare systems that are dedicated to keeping the residents of Hollywood healthy. With a population of 146,526, taking care of that many people creates a lot of medical waste. These by-products cannot be combined with regular waste as they are often contaminated with blood-borne pathogens which can cause infection and disease. MedPro Disposal is proud to be a trusted hauler in the Hollywood area, and is dedicated to properly disposing of medical waste and keeping the environment healthy.
What exactly is medical waste? Medical waste can be a variety of things, from used sharps needles, gauze pads, soaked bandages and IV bags, to human tissue even. It is essential that all of these materials be disposed of immediately in a proper medical waste container, immediately after use. Following this procedure greatly reduces the risk of sterile areas becoming contaminated with pathogens, which, according to the CDC, resulted in 17 million cases of infection in hospitals in 2011.
As a MedPro customer, the hassles of segregating waste are mitigated, as your facility will receive a poster that clearly lists everything that can and cannot go in the medical waste container. This ensures your facility is being compliant and protects the beautiful Florida environment as well.
Along with medical waste removal, MedPro Disposal also offers other services to practices in the greater Hollywood area. These services include pharmaceutical disposal as well as OSHA compliance. Our pharmaceutical disposal is an easy-to-use mail-back program designed to be as hassle-free as possible. MedPro will send your facility a 2.5 gallon bucket that is used as a waste bucket for unused or expired medications. Once that bucket becomes full, attach the pre-paid shipping label and send it off to our disposal facility. MedPro then sends your facility a brand new bucket to begin filling up again, all for one great low price.
OSHA compliance is tough. It often requires shutting down for half a day and having an outside consultant come in and train all employees. Those days are in the rearview mirror with MedPro’s online OSHA compliance portal. The portal allows administrator access to assign individual or group training for job-specific tests. It also allows for each employee’s progress to be tracked, and it keeps all certificates of completion in one, centralized location. This allows easy access and viewing, should your facility ever be audited by OSHA.
In this day and age, with medical costs skyrocketing across the country, anything that you can do to save your practice money is beneficial to all involved. An easy area to start saving money is on your medical waste disposal, and that is by using MedPro Disposal. We are dedicated to being the premier hauler in the Hollywood area, and treat our customers with utmost care, who often see savings in the 20-40% range compared to their previous waste haulers.
Hollywood is part of Broward County, Florida, between Fort Lauderdale and Miami. It was founded in 1925 and grew rapidly during the 1950s and 1960s, eventually becoming the 12th largest city in Florida with a current population of 146,526.
In 1925, Joseph W. Young dreamed of a motion picture hub on the East Coast, and thus Hollywood, FL was born, named after Hollywood, CA. Young bought thousands of acres of land and named the new town “Hollywood by the Sea.” He envisioned a city full of lakes, golf courses, luxury hotels, and a main street being Hollywood Blvd. Unfortunately, following the 1926 Miami hurricane, Hollywood received extensive damage, second only to Miami. In the following decade following Young’s death, the city encountered more hurricanes along with the stock market crash that sent a lot of people into misfortune.
Located on Hollywood Blvd is the Mediterranean-style Joseph Young Mansion, which was built around 1921, making it one of the oldest houses in the Hollywood area.
Joseph W. Young founded the city; he dreamed of building a motion picture colony on the East Coast of the United States and named the town after Hollywood, California. Young bought up thousands of acres of land around 1920, and named his new town "Hollywood by the Sea" to distinguish it from his other real estate venture, "Hollywood in the Hills", in New York. After the 1926 Miami hurricane, Hollywood was severely damaged; local newspapers reported that Hollywood was second only to Miami in losses from the storm.
