Medical waste is also called biomedical waste and biohazardous waste – it may include discarded biologic product such as blood or tissue removed from operating rooms, morgues, laboratories or other medical facilities. The term may also be applied to bedding, bandages, syringes, and similar materials that have been used in treating patients and to animal carcasses or body parts used in research. Medical waste is regulated at the federal, state and local levels.
In Iowa the Department of Natural Resources regulates all hazardous waste, and information from the DNR may be found at their website.
MedPro operates in 44 states, including Iowa, and we have grown rapidly since our first year in business, 2009. Some reasons we have become popular in the healthcare industry is because we listen to our customers and respond with solution-based innovations. The MedPro Advantage is a bundle of benefits and services that set us apart from the other service providers, and a few of them are:
The MedPro Online Safety Compliance Portal – This is a substantial repository of training modules, reference information, and planning tools that customers tell us saves them time and money. Healthcare professionals are able to study and certify in OSHA-required training, and draft safety plans for fire-prevention, exposure control, and emergency preparedness. The platform also allows customers to study local, state, and federal regulations and access a conversion tool for the ICD9 to ICD10 transition.
Right-Sized Service Plans – MedPro listens to our customers from the start, assessing their average medical waste output and the number and frequency of pick-ups. There is certainly no reason to pay for a pick-up that is unnecessary and MedPro won’t charge for one.
Low Cost Promise – Using our vast resources, MedPro has developed strategies in Iowa for the coordination of collection and transportation operations that allows us to save time, fuel, and labor costs. We pass those savings on to our customers because we know that builds trust. We are in business to grow, and the best way to do that is by building loyal, long-term relationships.
Low Risk – In Iowa, and in every state we serve, MedPro carries a very high level of insurance coverage. Protection from risk produces the side-effect called peace-of-mind, it’s an added value.
Reliable Service – MedPro has earned a sterling reputation for making pick=ups on time. We also have an exemplary record for transporting medical waste safely to disposal sites where guidelines are followed for the proper final disposition of the items.
Simplified Invoicing and Flat Fees – Customers told us they have enough paperwork to deal with, and so we make our invoices easy to process with one-flat-fee and no hidden charges. The bills are easy to pay as well, with a billing portal on our website, or customer can pay the old-fashioned way with an envelope and a stamp.
MedPro has also listened to our customers about added-value services:
As we grow in Cedar Rapids, we are happy to hear from new customers how pleased they are with our service and low rates. The best way to get to know us is to call our sales department and ask for a price quote. Our number is 888-641-6131 – let’s have a conversation!
Cedar Rapids City Hall was incorporated into a Veteran's Memorial Building erected in 1925. The structure was erected on an island in the Cedar River in order to provide a central location within the city. This also gave Cedar Rapids the distinction of being the only city on Earth that has its municipal government situated on an island!
