Norfolk Medical Waste FAQs

Several companies provide medical waste disposal in Norfolk. MedPro Disposal is one: we have served healthcare facilities since 2009, we are a BBB A+ rated business, and customers rate us 4.5 out of 5 across 882 Google reviews. We pick up medical waste, sharps and pharmaceutical waste across Nebraska. We confirm service at your address when you ask for a quote.

How do I choose a medical waste company in Norfolk, NE?

Compare Norfolk companies on the same points: whether they meet the requirements Nebraska sets for hauling medical waste, where the waste is treated, the records you receive after each pickup, the pickup schedule, and the contract’s length and price-change terms. Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) is a good place to confirm the state’s requirements.

Which Norfolk facilities need medical waste disposal?

Medical waste comes from every kind of healthcare facility in Norfolk, from hospitals to small offices. Federal records list 1 hospital, 2 nursing homes, 1 dialysis center, 2 surgery centers and 15 health center sites in Norfolk. The provider registry adds 20 physician offices with a lab certificate, 42 dentists and 15 pharmacies. Dental offices, veterinary clinics, labs and private practices add to that, and MedPro serves them all.

How much does medical waste disposal cost in Norfolk, NE?

A Norfolk practice’s cost comes down to its waste, its containers, its pickup schedule and its building access, which is why we quote each one separately. On average, MedPro customers save 30%. MedPro quotes in Norfolk ZIP codes have projected annual savings of $930 for a not-for-profit.

Where can I dispose of medical waste in Norfolk?

For a facility in Norfolk, the answer is scheduled pickup: packaged, labeled and documented, then treated under Nebraska’s infectious waste rules. Household medical waste is a different category with its own local options in Madison County.

What are the medical waste rules in Nebraska?

Nebraska regulates medical waste as infectious waste. The main rules are cited as Title 132 NAC, Ch. 1 (infectious waste definition); DWEE Guidance 25-022. Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) is one of the agencies that oversees them. Federal OSHA oversees workplace safety for private employers in Nebraska. Requirements can differ by waste type and by county or city, so confirm what applies to your Norfolk facility.

Can I throw sharps in the regular trash in Norfolk?

A Norfolk practice should not. Contaminated needles and blades belong in puncture-resistant, leakproof, labeled or color-coded sharps containers under OSHA’s bloodborne pathogens standard, and the full containers are collected for treatment. Sharps from home use are handled differently, so check your local household rules in Madison County.

Does MedPro Disposal offer OSHA and HIPAA training in Norfolk?

Yes, we offer both online with certification. OSHA requires employers whose staff may be exposed to blood or other infectious material to train them at hire and at least yearly, and HIPAA requires covered practices to train their workforce on patient privacy.

Which Norfolk ZIP codes does MedPro Disposal serve?

The ZIP codes in Norfolk are 68701 and 68702 (2 in all). To confirm service at your address, ask for a quote or call us.
